1.The addition reaction of 1,3-butadiene with 1 equivalent of HBr gives
3-bromo-1-butene(71% yield) and 1-bromo-2-butene(29% yield)
(1). The less stable product 3-bromo-1-butene is favored over 1-bromo-2
-butene. Is this reaction under kinetic or thermodynamic control?
(2). Why the reaction does not give 4-bromo-1-butene?
(3). Draw the reaction mechanism to account for the product of 1-bromo-2
-butene.
(4). The product of 1-bromo-2-butene contains (E)- and (Z)- isomers. Show
their structures.
2.Cyclohexene(C6H10) and benzene(C6H6) reacts with bromine in diferent modes.
(1). Cyclohexene reacts with Br2 to give an addition product C6H10Br2. What
is the configuration of this product? Show the reaction mechanism.
(2). Benzene reacts with Br2 in tje presence of FeBr3 to give bromobezene.
Show the reaction mechanism.
