一、霍布斯在「論臣民的自由」（「論人民之自由」）這一章中，說自由可以與恐
懼並存，也可與必要（必然）相容，請問他的意思是什麼？此外，在利維坦至高至
大的權力支配下，人民究竟還有那些自由？您認為霍布斯所講的這些自由會不會與
他的理論相矛盾？為什麼？
二、賽局理論（game theory）常常提到「囚犯困境」（the prisoner’s dilemma）
，並將此一理論設計歸於霍布斯《利維坦》的啟發。請問霍布斯的政治學說與「囚
犯困境」有何關係？
（註）「囚犯困境」（the prisoner’s dilemma）是講兩個罪犯嫌疑人共同作案後
被員警抓住，分別隔離審訊。兩人被告知，如都能坦白交待，將被各判刑 8年；如
都抵賴，將因證據不足各判 1年。如一人坦白，一人抵賴，將前者釋放，後者判刑
20年。因而，兩人有兩個選擇：坦白或抵賴。但兩人都無法得知另一人的選擇。最
後的結果是：兩人都俯首認罪而各被判刑8年。
三、請以Ferguson及Adam Smith的社會理論為基礎，說明“private vice, public
virtue”這個概念的涵義。另外，請問您同意他們對社會秩序「自動自發形成」
的看法嗎？為什麼？
四、There are two state-of-nature teachings. Locke’s is responsible for
our institutions, justifies our absorption with private property and the
free market, and gives us our sense of right. Rousseau’s lies behind the
most prevalent views of what life is about and how to seek healing for
our wounds. The former teaches that adjustment to civil society is almost
automatic; the latter that such adjustment is very difficult indeed and
requires all kinds of intermediaries between it and lost nature.
