1.Given a closed-loop system as shown in Fig.1 where G(s)=6/(s+1)(s+2) and H(s)
=1/(s+p)
(a)Please sketch the root locus for the closed-loop system with 0<p<∞ (10%)
(b)Please find the range for p such that the closed-loop system is stable(5%)
(c)Please estimate the value of p such that the corressponding closed-loop
system has dominant poles with damping ration ζ=0.707(5%)
2.Consider a closed-loop control system as shown in Fig.2
(a)Please check to see if the system is stable with K=1(10%)
(b)Please check to see if the system is stable with K=5(10%)
3.Given a unity-feedback closed-loop system,the Bode plot of the open-loop
transfer function is shown in Fig.3. Suppose that the closed-loop system is
expected to have a phase margin of 45 degree and the steady state error less
than 5% for a ramp input.
(a)Please first describe the design methodology you will adopt in details and
the reason for such a design.(10%) (Hint:please describe step-by-step
procedures)
(b)Please complete the design.(10%)
4.Given a unity-feedback closed-loop system , the Bode plot of the open-loop
transfer function is shown in Fig.4(a) and Fig.4(b) in two different case.
(a)Please describe the methods in details we can use to determine the
stability of the closed-loop system.(Hint: there are two common method in
such a case) (10%)
(b)Based on the answer in (a) ,please determine the stability of the
closed-loop system in Fig.4(a) and Fig.4(b) separately.(10%)
(c)What is a minimum-phase system?(Bonus 10%)
5.Please describe the design proceduer for a PID control system.(Hint:There
are three controller parmeters in a PID controller. How does one determine
the initial setting of the parameters? How the tuning process be proceeded?
What will be the guidelines for tuning? What should be consider if actuator
saturation is possible in the closed-loop system? )(20%)
