An adiabatic container is divided into two compartments separated by a
diathermic wall as shown in the following figure. One compartment contains 50g
of water at 50℃ and the other contains 100g of water at 20℃. The specific
heat capacity of water is 4.18 J．K^-1．g^-1 and is independent of temperature.
Answer the following questions. 20%
(a) Find the final temperature fo the system.
(b) How much heat is transferred from the left to the fight compartment?
(c) Find △S for the left and the fight conpartments.
(d) Find △S for the surroundings (i.e., outside the adiabatic wall)
(e) Find the change in entropy for the universe. Verify that the transfer of
heat from left to right is spontaneous.
