10.Here is an immunoassay for explosive such as trinitrotoluene(TNT).
1)A column is prepared with covalently bound antibodies to TNT.
Fluorescent-labeled TNT is passed through the column to saturate the
antibodies with labeled TNT. The column is washed excess solvent until no
fluorescent is detected at the outlet.
2)Air containing TNT vapors is drawn through a sampling device that
concentrates traces of the gaseous vapors into distilled water.
3)Aliquots of water from the sample sre injected into the antibody column.
The fluorescence intensity of the liquid exiting the column is
proportional to the concentration of TNT in the water from the sampler
over the range 20 to 1200 ng/ml.
Draw pictures showing the state of the column in step 1 and 3 and explain
how the detector works.(8%)
