King, I have loved one of your vassals, whom you see there. Because of

acquitted by me, let your barons release him!
2. Who is speaking ?_______________________
And why should Tartarus elude our laws?
Why not extend your mother's power--and yours?
One-third of all the world is still not ours...

Diana, would defy me? And the daughter
Of Ceres, if we let her choose, will be
like them: she is so bent on chasity.

Seeing his city captive, seeing his own
Royal portals rent apart, his enemies
In the inner rooms, the old man uselessly
Put on his shoulders, shaking with old age,
Armor unused for years, belted a sword on,
And made for the massed enemy to die.
9. Who is the speaker ? _________________________
Who are you
In armor, visiting our rivers? Speak
From where you are, stop there, say why you come.
This is the region of the Shades, and Sleep,
And drowsy Night. It breaks eternal law
For the Stygian craft to carry living bodies.
10. Who is the "boy" addressed in the following passage ?_______________
Lewd boy,
what are you doing with that heavy bow?
My shoulders surely are more fit for it;

I can fell enemies; just recently
I even hit -- my shafts were infinite --
that swollen serpent, Python, sprawled across
whole acres with his pestilential paunch.
