In The Guest, The Metamorphosis, Death in Venice and Death Constant Beyond Love, one finds that the narrative has at its focus "a crisis." One may take the crisis as a framing device in reading these stories. Try to produce a reading for each case , by placing the narrative in that framework. 2. In Death in Venice, The Guest, Death Constant Beyond Love, and The Garden of Forking Paths the reader is invited to read the narrative as grounded in certain historical, social , political or ontological assumptions. How in each case, the presumed outlook compels the reader to limit his reading within the presumed closure? 3. Rilke's poem, "The Torso of Apollo," gives the interpretive authority to the narrator and persuades the reader to go along. In The Metamorphosis, the narrator allows the reader to hear and feel what is going on inside the protagonist, yet keeps other characters as flat types. In The Garden of Forking Paths the narrator allows the reader the information that he is attempting one of the possible interpretations. How does the narrator's narrative strategy tell of the assumed attitude towards text in each case? 4. "The Swan," The Metamorphosis, Death Constant Beyond Love all touches upon "death." The figurative play of death in these pieces allows a reading of "death" symbolically. On the symbolic level, how would you talk about death in these cases? 選13 或 24 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.223.95
