課程名稱︰歐洲文學1800以後 課程性質︰外文系選修 課程教師︰張惠鍞 開課系所︰外文系 考試時間︰2006/4/21 試題 : 1. Rousseau, Heine, Baudelaire and Emma Bovary share a desire to escape from the conventional and constraining reality. Yet the imagination of the beyond assumes a rather specific make-up in each case. Make a discussion on how these cases are different in the imagination of the beyond. 2. Poems such as Correspondence and Invitation to Voyage envision a world of material goods, especially luxurious goods which do not serve the basic needs of everyday life. In everyday life Emma tries to give style or taste to common things, and in fact her greatest longing is for luxurious decorative items. Discuss how the symbolism of the material goods in Baudelarie's poem both agree and disagree with Emma's language of objects. 3. Rousseau emphasizes that he values affection more than physical possession as far as sexual relationship is concerned. In "the Carcass" Baudelaire writes a love song. In Madame Bovary Rodolphe mumbles to himself , "Very nice, that wife of the doctor's! Lovely teeth, black eyes, a dainty foot …." How do you compare Rousseau's idea of love with the way Rodophe is attracted to Emma and the attitude of the narrator in Baudelaire's poem towards love? 4. In "A Carcass", "The Lake" and The Cherry Orchard "time" is given presence by the effects of change it brought upon the various aspects of life. "The carcass," "the lake" and "the cherry orchard" are made to stand as that which records and sustains the effects of change. At the same time, "the carcass," "the lake" and "the cherry orchard" also stand for the continuity or the possibility of value or human significance. Make a discussion of how each arrive at the idea of continuity from a thick display of phenomena of change. 四選二 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.223.95
