1.Huntington divided the world into seven civilizations. Beside Chinese and
Western ones, please indicate the other five.
2.Huntington enumerated six reasons to explain why Muslim world is more
belligerent than other civilizations. Please indicate at least five of them.
3.Indicate the countries that, according to Huntington, could develop into
leading powers in the Muslim world.
4.However,according to Huntington, each of these potentially leading countries
in Muslim world suffers at least one handicap. Please indicate one weak point

1.According to Huntington, the rise of Asia and resurgence of Islamism are
becoming the most threatening challenges to the still pre-dominant Western
civilization. Please analyse these two non-Western movements,including their
backgrounds,developments,and potential challenges to the West in Huntington's
terms. Finally, do you agree to his analysis?
2.In his book, Huntington criticized much the concept of 'universal
civilization' and condemned also the multiculturalism in the US. Why did the
existence or the probable of a 'universal civilization'? Why did he also
refuse to recognize the existence and necessity of the multiculturalism in
the US, what was the probable solution that Huntington proposed for the
American elite vis-a-vis the rise of non-Western civilization? Do you agree
with him?
3.We all visited the mosque and listened to Dr. Ma's speech on Islam. Please
give us first a structural summary of his speech, including the basic
assumption of Islam, his criticism of Huntington's thesis,his interpretation
of the conflicts between Islam and the West, and his proposed solution to
these conflicts. Then please give us your comments on his thesis.
