Please answer the following three questions in either Chinese or English
with exact replies in accordance with the contents included in the syllabus
and what we have discussed in the classes about them. (Each qestion counts
35 point with the total of 105 points):
1.Please explain in what sense that the early logicism of B. Russell is
characterized by being an absolute realism. (I prefer to see more
explanation on the adjective "absolute" rather than simply clarifying
what realism is).
2.Please, by the application of Russell's theory of description and all
its sympols, reformulate the following sentence: "The president of England
is handsome." Then, explain also why would Russell take such an effort of
adding a theory on the reformulation of a relatively 'simple' sentence?
3.Please explain how did Wittgenstein think that Russell's solution to his
'paradox', i.e. the Type Theory, was actually not a solution at all, but a
'mere redundancy' for a problem which can be explained away by analyzing
the nature of proposition?
