Frequently Asked Questions
A. General:
1. How many schools usually attend WorldMUN?
About 150 schools attended the WorldMUN 2005 conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. The conference generally has between 800 and 1000 delegates.
2. How will delegates find accommodations in Beijing?
We are currently working with our host team in Beijing on hotel accomodations. Information will be posted on this website as soon as possible.
3. How do I get to the conference?
Transportation options will be discussed and posted on this website at a future date.
4. Would it be possible to represent only one country with a large group, or would we have to split up into several countries?
With a large group (greater than 12 delegates), it will be impossible to represent only one country. Your team will have to split up over two or three countries.
5. Do we have any influence on which country/countries we will represent? Can we state any preferences?
You do get to state your preferences for country assignments. You will be allowed to submit your top 10 country preferences once you have paid your registration fees.
B. Eligibility:
1. Who is eligible to participate in WorldMUN?
Anyone currently enrolled in a university (undergraduate or graduate) can take part in WorldMUN. You do not need to come as a delegation. If you cannot find fellow students to accompany you to the conference, you may sign up as an individual delegate. Unfortunately, WorldMUN cannot accept high school students at the conference.
C. Fees:
1. What fees do we have to pay to attend?
If you are attending WorldMUN with a team, your team must pay a US$100 registration fee and each delegate on the team must pay a US$90 delegate fee.
For example if your team consists of 6 people, the fee will be:
US$100 + (6 x US$90) = US$640.00.
Individual delegates (those coming without a delegation) pay only a US$120 combined registration and delegate fee.
On top of this, you will have to add $35 for any Faculty Advisor or Head Delegate who will not be participating in the committee deliberations.
Teams or individuals who have great difficulty paying the fees can apply for fee waivers using the online registration system (see below for more information).
2. When are the fees due?
The registration fee must be paid by the first registration deadline, December 3rd, 2005. The delegate and Faculty Advisor/Head Delegate fees must be paid by the second registration deadline, February 8th, 2006.
Teams that do not pay on time will have to pay additional late fees. After the first round of registration closes on December 3rd, 2005, we will charge an additional US$15.00 in late fees. If the money is not paid by December 17th, 2005, the late fee will increase to US$30.00. After the second round of registration closes on February 8th, 2006, we will charge an additional US$15.00 in late fees. If the money is not paid by February 22nd, 2006, the late fee will increase to US$30.00. Please note that the
late fees are separate for both rounds of registration, so it is possible to have to pay US$60.00 in late fees if both deadlines are missed.
3. How do we pay fees?
We will only be accepting money through PayPal or checks this year. If you have a credit card or a PayPal account, you can link to PayPal directly from registration on the website. If you cannot use PayPal, you need to mail us a check drawn off of a US bank. The check must be in $US, otherwise we will charge you extra for the processing fees on our side. All checks must be postmarked by the registration deadline; otherwise, we will charge late fees. The address is provided during registration for the
checks. Please note that we will not be accepting wire transfers.
