Properties : Orthorhombic crystals . density 2.15 . mp ~205°. Stable when dry
        but in soln iit slowly nydrolyzes forming ammonium bisulfate. Sol in
        0.5 parts water at 0°, in about 2 parts water at 80°. Sulfuric acid
        decreases its soly in water. It is sparingly Sol in alcohol, methanol;
        slight Sol in acetom. Insol in ether. Freely Sol in hitrogenous bases,
        liq ammonia, also in nitrogen contgorganic solvents, pyridine,
        formamide, dimethyformarmide. A strong acid : pH of a 1% soln at 25°
        1.18. Can be titrated with bases by means of indicators showing color
        change pH 4.5 to 9.
Note : Moderately irritating to skin, mucous mombranes.

Properties : White or slight yellow, hygroscopic granules, rods, or powder.
        Very slowly oxidizes to nitrate in air. density 2.17. mp 271°; dec
        above 320°. Sol in 1.5 parts cold water, 0.6 part boiling water,
        slightly in alc. Dec even by acids with evolution of brown fumes of
        N2O3. The aq soln is alkaline. pH ~9.
