yesterday we did two experiments on enzymes in the lab,
and I was so surprised at the equipment we were using.
For example, the small test tubes are disposable;
the lids of micropipets are also disposable, which means that
we use a new lid every time with different solutions.
And there are more than enough pipets ready for use, and we can just
put them away once they are being used, and someone would clean up all the
used glasswares afterwards.
There was also a vortex mixer, used to "shake" and mix well the solution.
I felt like being in some kind of a grand , deluxious hotel!
I am not here to complain about our labs in Taiwan,
clearly, they have lots of money to afford having good fascilities and resources.
I just want to share with you my excitment,though I felt like a "countryman
lost in a big city" !
I want to the audition on Thursday for the orchestra, and as I waited for my
turn, I was so unconfident that I almost ran away. All I had in mind was something
like "oh,, why am I here? I am going to fail! I shouldn't have come all the way
here to embarrass myself" ect. Anyway, I tried very hard to encourage myself
just to go in and have a try, because I had already spent $20 for renting the violin.
Anyway, I played a traditional Chinese song, and the director said it was a
lovely melody, and also asked me to do some sight-reading on the two
pieces of music we are playing this summer.
Guess I did it all right, because I received an e-mail, telling me to go to
the rehersals starting on 12th July!
Wao....couldn't beleive it!
