精華區beta NTUChorus 關於我們 聯絡資訊
這位朋友已經連續三次來看公演,特別寫了以下的review~~~ The opening number by the sopranos was very, very good. The altos provided good support to the sopranos and blended well. The choir exercised great control in their techniques from FF to PP. The sopranos were able to wrap up smoothly this time. Either the scores have lower high notes or they have simply practiced so that they could end the high notes smoothly. The pianist, especially in the first part, was playing with such gusto that I thought she would jump out of her chair. The choir is lucky to have such a good accompaniment. The songs were selected well. I enjoyed all of them, from the classic religious songs to modern ones. In particular, I liked Jesus, Fairest of Them. Could we sing this at our church? Two weeks ago, I watched the DVD for Jekyll and Hyde musical, starring David Haselhoff on Broadway. so I was very pleased to learn that the choir is going to sing songs from this. I was quite apprehensive about “Once Upon A Dream” because this is not an easy song. In fact, I watched the part where the soprano sang this and rewound the DVD 3 times because it was done so well – full of pathos, the only way to sing this song. My fears/doubts were allayed when the choir sang this song. They did quite well. Who are the two guest singers? Are they alumnus/alumna of NTU? The tenor sang and acted better than David Haselhoff of The Knight Rider fame. He has a very good voice although he faltered in ending a note smoothly in his last song. He has a better voice than Fei Shang so if Fei Shang could appear on Broadway, why couldn’t he? In the original musical, Lucy was played by an 18-year old American beauty whose singing/acting is hard to top by any singer. Nevertheless, the guest soprano did credit to her role as Lucy. Many Taiwanese choir groups can sing classic/religious songs but so far, only the NTU choir could do Broadway songs so well because they sang and pronounce well. I think this is because the NTU choir has a conductress who knows her Broadway musical very well. Did she also teach the choir how to move? The group arrangement is critical in interpreting Broadway songs. Suggestion: The choir is definitely ready for an all Broadway presentation and entitle the performance something like “A Nostalgic Evening with Broadway” or “The Best of Broadway”. The choir can sing scores from “Les Miserables”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” and one particular song in “Rent” called “Five Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes”. The audience will surely appreciate this repertoire. Would a performance like this be possible or is it just wishful thinking on my part? If the choir continues to perform this well, I will have nothing more to say except “Congratulations for a job well done”. Kind regards, Luisa p.s. You also did a good job of moving the chair and presenting flowers to the conductress! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.147.149
