The first annual Strait Talk Symposium at Berkeley will take place from March 8 to 15, 2009. As with past symposia, the Berkeley symposium will feature the inovative Interactive Conflict Resolution (ICR) sessions and speaker panels. This year's speakers will examine US-China and Taiwan Strait relations from four perspectives: business and economics; cultural identity; law and society; and East Asia regional stability. At the end of the symposium, the student delegates will produce a consensus recommendation for the future of the triangular relations to be circulated in policy circles on both sides of the Pacific. We are currently accepting applications for delegates to attend the symposium and participate in the ICR sessions. Fifteen delegates—five from mainland China/HK, five from Taiwan, and five from the U.S.—will be selected. We will provide up to $500 subsidy for airfare costs for each delegate traveling from Asia, and the program is free for selected delegates. There is no restriction on academic background and any undergraduate or graduate student or young professionals are eligible to apply; please see our website for selection criteria. Application deadlines for Taiwan delegates: Official deadline: Feburary 4, 2009 Please see www.straittalk.org for the application and more information on the program. Feel free to contact us at StraitTalk.Berkeley@gmail.com with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you! Founded by undergraduate students, Strait Talk is a nonpartisan, youth-focused program that fosters peaceful progress and constructive dialogue in the Taiwan Strait through educating, connecting, and empowering young leaders from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and the United States. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 155.69.169.145 ※ 編輯: zelaxos 來自: 155.69.169.145 (02/03 01:53) -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 155.69.169.145
