這是一首現代的讚美詩,由女高音齊唱開始,接著各聲部以不同歌詞及旋律互相交錯,歌曲
行進到中段由女高音和聲帶出慶祝耶穌降生的喜悅,接著各聲部趨於平靜,結尾在女高音的
齊唱.全曲如同一隻隊伍由遠處行進,漸漸音量變大好似隊伍迎面而來,最後又逐漸遠去,但
歡呼之聲仍不絕於耳.
歌曲開頭的拉丁文榮歸主頌(Gloria in Excelsis Deo)是一首用於基督教及天主教崇拜的
詩歌,是禮文的一部份。歌詞是從《聖經·新約全書》的路加福音第二章14節衍出的讚詞,
在二世紀中已開始流傳，並由教宗史密高(498年-514年)最先把它放入重大節慶的崇拜之
中.
