roode tree、rood-tree或rood即十字架。前面忘了說，-ee-發ㄟㄧ。
myn herte = my heart；-er-同現代英文的air。
fleshli = fleshly; vanyte = vanity
withdrawe的-aw-唸ㄠ。
其他看不懂的字將多出來的e忽略就好了；以下各段同。

smerten: To cause (sb. or sth.) physical pain, hardship, etc.
thyn: 同近代英文（Early Modern English）的thine，後接母音的第二人稱所有格，
所以後面hands的h應不發音。
