「Wind Beneath My Wings」原本為本首作詞人Larry Henley寫給他前妻的一首詩的標題
。
1982年，Larry Henley 與 Jeff Silbar兩人受聘為鮑布席格（Bob Seger）譜寫一首新歌
，在交換意見的時候，席爾巴無意間瞥見亨利的筆記本上面寫著一句「Wind Beneath My
Wings」，本身擁有飛機駕照的席爾巴立刻有了靈感，決定要用它為題來寫一首歌。兩人
討論的結果，完全放棄了亨利已經完成的詩句，只採用這個概念重新創作，由亨利作詞，
而席爾巴則負責譜曲，原本是首鄉村歌曲，因為被電影「情比姊妹深」選為主題曲，而再
度受到歡迎。
該部電影是描述一對手足情深的姊妹，因為姊姊的犧牲奉獻，使從事演藝事業的妹妹平步
青雲，無怨無悔的姊姊最後卻罹患了癌症。
隨著影片的上映，這首歌曲果然造成了空前的轟動，也使得這首原本描繪作丈夫的人對妻
子心懷感激的動人作品就此成為經典，在1989年六月十日奪得全美冠軍，也躋身BMI「二
十世紀百大」之林，成為有史以來被播唱次數最多的第四十一名經典。
