The Lions Sleeps Tonight最早是1939年南非團體The Evening Birds的作品
Mbube（獅子），由Solomon Linda所作。本曲數度易手，直到1961年The
Tokens以George Weiss、Luigi Creatore和Hugo Peretti重編的版本登上美
國告示牌冠軍，才正式成為家喻戶曉的歌曲，也出現在迪士尼動畫《獅子王》
中。英文版本是Weiss等三人根據原曲祖魯語歌詞之意涵寫成；第三段的「寶
貝，不要害怕」並非如字面上是因為獅子今晚睡著了，而是在祖魯傳說中最
後的獅王查卡並沒有被歐洲侵略者殺死，只是睡著了，有一天還會再起，因
此不需害怕。
本團採用的是參考Anne Raugh和Deke Sharon編曲，並由本團學生指揮顏逸凡
重新整理的版本。
