Two freshmen clarinettists talked to me yesterday.
They don't know what to play if they don't have the score from
the wind ensembles. That is, they don't know how to practice alone.
How many players in NTUWindBand have the same problem? I know not.
If the members of this band know more about the importance of
practicing alone, the level of this ensemble can be improved a lot.
I mean a lot, not a little.
How many of us can practice alone for at least an hour a day?
This is the min. requirement, ok? If you cannot hit this standard
(of course also practice with good methods), then you should at
least try to do so for 3 months, your performance skill will be
much better. If you don't have enough material to practice alone
for an hour, you need some help from a good musician.
When I say "practice alone", I mean practice material different
from the band music. Your long notes, scales, staccato exercises,
and etudes.
Please practice, for your own interest, if you like music.
