There is a question that I can answer: Is it necessary to have a (clarinet) teacher? Now I ask this question to myself. I had my first teacher in my 3rd year of senior high school because I would like to be a better player. I did not wnat to waste my time on the "wrong road". I had no teacher when I was in the "Demonstration Band" during my military service because I disliked the way we played music in that band and I hated the music and sound that I made. I have a teacher now. OK, so you know what I have and what I had. If the following is true: I play clarinet simply for fun and I just want to feel happy. Life and work is difficult enough, I don't want to put more burden on myself. then I won't need a teacher. If the following is true: I play clarinet because I want to say something, I want to sing. I love the way I play when I know what I want to sing and how to sing it. However, from time to time I feel lost or cannot satisfy myself while playing clarinet. then I need a teacher. Definitely I am type 2. There are so many types of personality, people can be type 3, 4, 5, .... So, I cannot answer the question that I claimed I am able to answer. I only have the answer for myself. Hsuan-Yi Chen -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: h198.s102.ts.hi
