I wish I have time to play in some orchestra. The
repertoire you are going to perform is great. The
clarinet parts are significant.
If they are dedicated players, you have a great
chance to learn a lot. If they are playing simply
for fun, you will have a lot of fun.
If you play the 2nd clarinet, you can learn even more.
The 2nd clarinet is a position for true artists. You get to
play with horns and mixed winds as the 2nd (more often than
the 1st clarinet). If other players
work hard to play together, you can learn to play with instruments
with very different tone colors. You don't learn that in NTUWindBand
because the oboe and bassoon parts are "ignored" or "often forgot"
here.
Anyway, you look for music and friendship here, also there.
To be a "guest" does not make you different from a regular member.
You will make mistakes, and learn. You will have fun.
Only one suggestion: you are always alone in an orchestra. If
you miss a note, it is missed, nobody else cover it for you. But
this is a reason for you to be excited.
