I think "wait" is fine. It is relaxed, not forced.
The situation for trombone is different, of course.
What is the volume of air one needs to fill a trombone?
The effect of O2 can be not important for trombone because
there is not enough "fresh" air to cause a serious problem.
(you can do some experiment to check it, mathematician)
That "CO2 and pitch" is a part of clarinet acoustics series.
Trombone........ does not spell similar to clarinet at all.
