I was not about to open Pandora's box when I wrote
the short article on "CO2 and pitch". If you go back and
read it again, it is on acoustics, not on how to play
our instruments. Especially not on how to relax.
If you have problem relaxing while playing your instrument,
you should talk to your teacher. If you don't know what is
going on while you take a breath or hold your breath or using
your diaphragm, it is a matter of technique.
I was not going to say anything on the matter of
how to use your diaphragm and relax. It is a big subject and
most teachers talk about it with metaphors which are easily
misunderstood.
This thread on CO2 is not on CO2 any more now. If my
original artical leads you to this direction on how to control
your breath, it is not my intention. I am not joining a
discussion on this. I just hope people keep the impression
that my article is simple and not abstract.
Now keep discussing on the issue of control one's breath
as you like. I am fine with that.
