A short story:
One clarinetist told me the following:
In orchestras, the pitch of wind instruments becomes more and more sharp
but the pitch of strings becomes more amd more flat. Since winds are loud,
eventually they win.
However, when I (that clarinetist) play Mozaert clarinet quintet, there
are 4 strings and only 1 clarinet, so the strings win, and the pitch
becomes more and more flat.
So much for intonation.
