menuet, Menuett (Fr., Ger.) -> minuet
menuetto, term encountered in the scores of Haydn, Mozart, etc., to mean
"minuet" - probably a hyprid of Fr. menuet and It. minuetto.

再來就順便看看字典上 minuet 的解釋吧:
minuet, minuetto (Eng., It.), dance in triple time of Franch rustic origin,
'promoted' to court use and becoming widely fashionable in the 18th
century. It forms the standard third movement of the 'classical'
(Haydn-Mozart) sonata, symphony, string quartet, etc., later developing
with Beethoven into the "Scherzo". It is normally in AABA form, the 'B'
being in contrast and called 'trio' because of the French custom (long since
dropped) of writing it in only three parts.
