I did play sax. After entering the graduate school, I play no more.
I am interested in clarinet music now because my interest in classical
music grows immensely, and clarinet and horn are my favorite wind instruments.
When you have more than five Beethoven's complete symphonies, more than
ten "Emperor", more than ten violin concerto, more than five complete cello
sonatas, and more than ten Bach's umaccompanied cello suites, what else could
you do? New music, and new sound besides going back again and again to what
I already have. (Now I start to feel such an accumulation of different versions
is a little bit stupid.)
As for sax, my interest is mostly on Jazz. Besides, it's more difficult to
get access to classical sax music (I mean CDs) here in Taiwan.
However, recently I bought an interesting and amusing CD of classical sax.
It's issued by EMI on the Debut series (mid price). The title is "Simply
Four Saxophones". I think you guys who play sax in the NTU Wind Band should
get one since it cheap.
