Some years ago, some saxophone players asked me if there is a nice
book on saxophone, a counterpart of "The Cambridge compendium to the clarinet"
for saxophone. At that time I could not find anything like that.
OK, now there is a "The Cambridge compendium to the saxophone" published
by the university of Cambridge press. I cannot tell you the author because
I don't remember it. I took a look at it and it is not bad. Academic stuff
is emphasized more than Jazz and others. The content should be interesting
for those who want to know more about that instrument (more than their
teachers know, probably). Anyone who
would like to get a copy of it will be able to find it either on
Amazon.com or on the homepage of the university of Cambridge press.
Are there other similar books for trumpet, trombone, piano.......
Don't ask me, go and search on the web. I know there are.
