Hello A-Jay,
I will send a new article to Tony soon, then you will know
about the typo.
The vibrating modes of a reed is complicated. However,
people believe that only the first mode is relevant because
the sound wave for a saxophone or a clarinet is well below
even the first mode of a reed.
Reference, you can look for "Fundamentals of musical
acoustics" by A. Benade, or "the physics of musical
instruments" by Fletcher. They cited many articles from
"The journal of acoustic society of America", and "Acoustica",
even "Ann. Rev. of Fluid Mech.", which you know much better than I do.
