Joseph Alessi
Joseph Alessi has been the New York Philharmonic's Principle Trombonist
since 1985. He began musical studies in his native California with his
father, Joseph Alessi, Sr. He performed with the San Fransisco Ballet
Orchestra and was a soloist with the San Fransisco Symphony before
continuing his musical training at Philadelphia Orchestra for four years
and Principal Trombonist with L'Orchestre Symphonique d'Montr麺l for one
season.
Mr. Alessi is an active soloist, recitalist, and chamber music performer.
In April 1990, he made his solo debut with the New York Philharmonic,
performing Creston's Fantasy for Trombone. He has been a guest artist with
the Lincoln Symphony and the Colorado Symphony and performs with the
Summit Brass. Currently on the faculty of the Juilliard School of Music,
Mr. Alessi has taught at the Grand Teton Music Festival and the Keystone
Brass Institute.
