Blair Bollinger
Blair Bollinger is the Bass Trombonist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
He joined the orchestra in 1986 following his graduation from the Curtis
Institute of Music where he studied with his orchestra predecessor,
Charles Vernon as well as Philadelphia's Principal Trombonist, Glenn
Dodson.
As a soloist, Mr. Bollinger has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra,
the Atlanta Symphony, the Savannah (GA) Symphony, and the Curtis Orchestra.
He was the winner of the 1986 Philadelphia Orchestra Senior Student
Competition, having the singular honor of being the only trombonist to win
this competition since it began in 1934. Mr. Bollinger has also performed
recitals in Philadelphia and on WFLN - FM radio.
In addition to his bass trombone duties with the Philadelphia Orchestra,
Mr. Bollinger also plays the cimbasso (an old Italian designed brass
instrument) for Music Director Riccardo Muti's performances of operas and
overtures. He is on the faculty of Temple University.
