One thing about Karl Leister.
Antony Pay told Leister that many people (including him) liked his
German sound very much.
Leister thanked Pay, and told him that his sound is not German.

One thing about German.
Charles Neidich said (in Clarinet Magzine) that while he was studying
in Russia, the teachers used German clarinets, the students used French
clarinets, but they played the same tone color.
"the concept of sound is more important than the instrument"
Neidich concluded.

One thing about the concept of sound.
Chicago Symphony Orchestra uses German-bore clarinets to play German
repertoire. Although the same clarinet players are playing, they think
the sound becomes more German when they switch instruments.

The sound is so subtle, isn't it?
