Recommendation:
The reasons for Wright's slump range from: he changed his
swing for the Home Run Derby, he's making too many off-the-field appearances,
the big contract he signed has made him soft and not having Cliff Floyd
hitting behind him has reduced the number of good pitches he sees in an
at-bat. Choose your favorite one or make up a reason of your own, but
whatever you come up with, the bottom line is that Wright has a month to get
himself right (no pun intended) before the Mets get to the playoffs. He is
too valuable to bench, but temper your expectations of Wright, until he gets
into some kind of positive groove at the plate.
