Yankee fans shouldn't get their hopes up for a quick return by Curtis
Granderson. He has done little in the way of baseball activities as he
nurses a strained left groin.
"Walking. That's all I've done," Granderson said Friday. "I haven't done
anything athletic at all. All I've done is walk around so unless they want
me to go out there and walk in center field, I doubt I'll be coming off
(the DL) to play on Monday."
Joe Girardi pegged Granderson's return in the area of 15-18 more days.
Granderson hit off a tee and threw in the outfield Friday for the first
time since going on the DL May 1 after suffering the injury in that day's
game. He won't try running until today.
"I haven't done any lateral movement," Granderson said. "I haven't done any
starting and stopping and that's going to be the big test. Whenever we
finally
try that stuff out that will be a big evaluation in terms of how soon I
can come back."

IN OR OUT?
Joe Girardi announced that Sergio Mitre will get the ball tomorrow against
Minnesota but was less forthcoming as to who will pitch Monday and Tuesday
versus Boston. Girardi might skip Javy Vazquez and go with Phil Hughes Monday
on his regular rest, with Sabathia going Tuesday in his normal turn. Vazquez
and Hughes both started games during Wednesday's doubleheader split in
Detroit.

Pettitte pronounced himself ready to go today after he was forced to miss his
last start in Detroit Monday with left elbow soreness.
"I felt good in the pen (Thursday) and felt good (Friday) throwing so I'm
ready
to go," Pettitte said. "I threw everything and it felt good. I didn't have
any
problems.
PITCHING IN
The Yanks claimed RHP Shane Lindsay off waivers from Colorado. He will report
to extended spring training in Tampa, Girardi said. RHP Christian Garcia was
given his unconditional release to make room on the 40-man roster.
