When the Yankees traded for Randy Johnson last winter, they envisioned the fiv e-time Cy Young Award winner as the dominant force that would put an end to lo sing streaks and keep winning streaks going. Instead, Johnson has been a .500 pitcher, which is one game better than the re st of his team after Monday's 4-3 loss to the Brewers dropped the Yankees to 2 8-29. 使的洋基的戰績來到28勝29敗 "I'm disappointed that I'm not pitching as well as I thought I would be at thi s point," Johnson said after allowing four runs in six innings. "I expect a lo t from myself. I think everybody does. Johnson在六局中被得4分後說我對於我不能在這個時間點投出我的水準感到失望.我對自ꐊ己有很多期許.我想大家都是如此 "I want to pitch well like I'm capable of doing," the lefty added. "That's th e responsibility I have. That's what I live for. I'm not pitching well enough to get us over the hump right now." 他又說我想要投的和我所能做的一樣好.這是我的責任.也是我所注重的.我投的不夠好.以 致於我們無法解決現在的難題 The Yankees are now 1-6 on their 12-game road trip, meaning that they can't fi nish any better than .500 on the two-week Midwest swing. 洋基在12場作客的比賽裡.現在是1勝6敗.也就是說他們要贏接下來兩個禮拜所有在中西區 的賽程來維持五成勝率<...不太可能> With eight losses in their last nine games, the Yankees have erased all the go od feelings that came with their 16-2 run in May, falling seven games behind t he Orioles in the American League East. 在最近9場輸了8場的情形下.洋基在5月份拿到16勝2敗的氣氛消失了.他們現在在美聯東區 落後領先的金鷹已達7場 "We're certainly going to have to earn our money here to get this thing turne d around," said manager Joe Torre. "It's not a lot of fun right now 總教練Toree說我們現在要取回一些本錢來扭轉局勢. Despite giving up a pair of home runs, including a solo shot by Junior Spivey in the sixth that proved to be the game-winner, Johnson isn't the only Yankee responsible for this loss. 什麼打線嗎> After battling back from an early 3-0 deficit with three runs in the fourth, N ew York had a chance to break the game open against Milwaukee starter Doug Dav is in the sixth after the right-hander walked the bases loaded with no outs. But Jorge Posada struck out and Jason Giambi grounded into a double play, eras ing the Yankees' best chance at taking their first lead of the night. 使的洋基在比賽中首度領先的機會化為 烏有 "I really can't strike out in that situation," Posada said. "He pitched me tou gh, but I can't strike out there." 但我不該在那被三振 "That took the wind out of our sails, not scoring with the bases loaded," sai d Torre. "We're fighting it, no question about it. For me to say we were confd ent and relaxed, I'd be kidding myself." 我是在對自己開玩笑<要被fire了> The Brewers attacked Johnson in the opening inning, plating a pair of runs aga inst the big lefty on an RBI double by Jeff Cirillo and an RBI single by Carlo s Lee to take a quick 2-0 lead. Milwaukee added to it in the third, as Cirillo blasted a solo shot to open the inning. 又賺到了P幣 "I don't think I've struggled this poorly with my location," said Johnson, who hit 98 mph on the radar several times. "I don't think I can honestly say that I remember struggling like this. It's not like I don't have my stuff out there, I'm just not getting away with a fastball over the plate or a hanging slider." Davis was nearly unhittable early on, allowing just two singles by Derek Jeter over the first three innings. New York finally got to him in the fourth, using two singles, two walks and a poorly executed throw on a fielder's choice attempt to tie the game at 3. But the Yankees couldn't capitalize on their bases-loaded situation in the sixth, giving the Brewers new life. Johnson, who didn't allow a hit in three innings following Cirillo's homer, served up a fat pitch to Spivey to open the bottom of the sixth. Spivey drilled it over the wall in left field for his fifth home run of the season, putting the Brewers back on top. "It just seems like he had a problem locating pitches early on," said Spivey, a former teammate of Johnson's in Arizona. "He was erratic at times. I've never seen him miss his spots so many times, especially with his fastball." Johnson was charged with four runs on seven hits and three walks, striking out eight. Even though his velocity was there, the results weren't, which is all Johnson wanted to talk about following the game. "My stuff, my velocity, it's all there. The bottom line is, if I was out there throwing 92 miles per hour and we were winning ballgames, it wouldn't matter to anybody," Johnson said. "I wish I would have felt bad and we would have won. That's how frustrated I am." "I know he's frustrated as [heck]," Torre said. "He wants to be here and do what he normally does. He's getting closer, but that's not enough for him." After going down in order in both the seventh and eighth, the Yankees threatened in the ninth, as Brewers closer Derrick Turnbow walked Bernie Williams to start the inning, then threw a wild pitch to move him to second. Turnbow retired the next two hitters, bringing Jeter to the plate as the Yankees' last hope. Jeter lined the first pitch to right field, but Geoff Jenkins had it played perfectly, allowing him to make a great running catch to end the ballgame. "I don't know what he was doing over there. That's pretty good scouting, I guess," Jeter said. "When you're scuffling, it seems like you don't get any breaks. If we had won 10 in a row, Jenkins is probably in right-center and that ball drops. Since we're scuffling, he's right on the line and he catches it. That's just the way it goes." The Yankees have now lost all 21 games in which they have scored three runs or less, something Torre believes is putting extra pressure on the team's pitchers. "It's something we have to work our way through," Torre said. "We have to find another good streak and see where we can go with it." "You can't hang your heads," Jeter said. "There's a long way to go. The season isn't over with. We have to battle back. Now is the time you find out about your team."
