Notes: Wright thinking ahead to '06
Right-hander's first season in New York a tough one

NEW YORK -- Jaret Wright was on his way to Chicago on Monday night, hoping
to get a start in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on
Tuesday against the White Sox.

Instead, he learned from a flight attendant during the trip that his Yankees
had been beaten by the Angels in Game 5 of the Division Series, rendering
his trip to the Windy City useless.

讓他此趟前往風城的旅途毫無用處

"I was on the plane. I asked the stewardess to call down to find out the
score," Wright said. "I had a couple of hours left on the flight and she said the Yankees lost. It's kind of a sick feeling, being on the plane and finding out that your team lost. I was hoping that she was wrong."

Of course, she wasn't, so Wright met his family in Chicago, spent a day
there and then returned to New York. He was at Yankee Stadium on Thursday
to collect some of his belongings before returning to his home in Southern
California for the winter.

Wright's season was a rocky one. He missed nearly four months with a shoulder
injury, and went 5-5 with a 6.08 ERA in 13 games. After he returned in
August, Wright was hit by a batted ball -- twice -- and a broken bat, as he
seemed to be a moving target for flying objects.

Wright wasn't the only starter to miss a significant chunk of time due
to injury. Carl Pavano, who was another big free agent acquisition last
winter, missed the entire second half with a shoulder injury. Wright
spoke with Pavano last week, and the two pitchers are looking forward
to getting a fresh start next spring.

"Being out for so many months, I'm still wanting to go, still wanting to
play. It's tough, but you have to look to next year, because there's

No blame game: Alex Rodriguez put a lot of the blame on himself after the
Yankees' Game 5 loss to the Angels, but Tino Martinez feels that the loss
shouldn't be placed on A-Rod's shoulders alone.

"He was disappointed, but it was a team thing," Martinez said. "He didn't
cost us the series; we didn't win. The Yankees lost. That's the way it is."

Rodriguez hit just .133 in the series, going 2-for-15 with six walks.
Martinez knows a thing or two about struggling in the postseason, as he
entered this October with a .239 career average in 20 playoff series.

Despite that low number, Martinez has had several huge postseason moments,
none larger than his grand slam in Game 1 the 1998 World Series. Martinez
went on to hit .385 in that series, and he also hit .363 in the 2000
postseason, helping the Yanks to a third consecutive World Series crown.

Support for the skipper: Joe Torre's status as the Yankees' manager has
been a hot topic of conversation all season, but Martinez doesn't think
that it should even be an issue after the job that Torre did this season.

"I think Joe's done a great job here," Martinez said. "I love Joe Torre,
so I think he deserves to stay here and finish his contract, or whatever

Yankees, and they're not afraid to make changes if they have to."

consecutive division title, despite using 51 players and 14 starting
pitchers in the process.

"We could have very easily not made the playoffs and been out of this thing
a month and a half ago," Martinez said. "He'd have his little meetings here

Tom Gordon, who has played for Torre for the past two seasons, echoed

as we should have been playing, there was so much going on.

"He handled it very well and kept us together. He did a great job managing

還有...問一下 他他他...後台是不是很硬?
怎麼覺得投得蠻爛的 投出去的球找不太到好球帶 打者的球卻常常來找他
卻也沒被毒舌媒體k到(還是有 只是我消息不靈通)

好奇 洋基會怎麼處理他...他是不是高層角力的棋子之一呢?
