Yanks put Beckett away early

NEW YORK ?Josh Beckett was having trouble getting any sort of breaking ball
over the plate. His velocity was good, 93-94 miles per hour, but when you
don't have anything else to go to, it looked like the Yankee hitters were
just sitting on one pitch. When they got it, they were putting a good swing on
it. Beckett has had trouble giving up the long ball, especially on the road,
and that came to fruition tonight.

If you get a guy like Beckett on a bad night, you have to put him away
because you know that coming into this series he's one of their big guns and
the Red Sox feel like when he's out there they have a good chance to win.
From the Yankee hitters' standpoint, you get a guy on a bad night like that,
you'd better stomp on him. They did, and were fortunate to get him out of
there early.

Beckett might be making some adjustments switching leagues, but the bottom
line is whether you're a National League pitcher or an American League pitcher,
 you have to be able to throw a few pitches for a strike. And when you come
into Yankee Stadium with only one pitch you can throw over the plate, and
you're not locating it on the corners, it's going to get hit hard. He has to
go back to the drawing board and get a feel for his curveball again, and
start mixing in some splits and changeups in order to balance out his pitching.

基本上都要把球投進好球帶 當你到洋基球場只有一種球可以進好球帶
而且也沒辦法控在邊角位置 肯定會被打慘 他必須要回去找回他曲球的球感
並且混合一些快速指叉球和變速球以平衡他的投球

The first inning said it all for Mike Mussina Monday. Coco Crisp led off the
game with a double, and Mussina was able to strike out three impressive
hitters in Mark Loretta, David Ort瞵 and Manny Ram甏ez, and he did it with
his fastball. The fastball is not lighting up the gun, but he has all his
other pitches working, so the fastball seems like it has a little more zip on
it.

I was really impressed with his location with his fastball early. And you
have to remember: in a game like this, when your team scores 13 runs, it's
sometimes not the easiest game to pitch. Your focus becomes just trying to
throw the ball over the plate instead of trying to get hitters out in big
spots. Late in the game he threw the ball over the plate. He gave up a few
more runs, but it's nothing to be worried about.

Obviously, Mussina has gotten off to one of the best starts of his career.
You have to start thinking now about the All-Star Game, and maybe starting it
would be a nice honor for him. But you also have to start thinking about 20
wins. Moose has never won 20 games before. It seems like the way things are
going for him, this might be the year. If he can stay healthy all the way
through, he might give it a shot.
今年顯然是Mussina生涯中最好的球季之一 可以開始想到明星賽或一些榮耀(賽揚獎嗎?)
也可以開始想到20勝 也許就是今年 只要他能一路維持健康下去 很有機會

推 Hudson:Moose在03年好像是一開季就投了個6-0還7-0 而且是連續場次
→ Hudson:那時也被認為是最有CY Awrad或20勝的一季 只是很可惜最後
