More than anything else, what I hope Monday's game accomplished is for people
to realize that Josh Beckett is human.

我希望禮拜一的比賽讓大家知道Josh Beckett也是人類。

Ever since the Red Sox got this guy, all I have heard from Yankees fans is that
New York should have gotten him (even though that was an impossibility, given
the fact that they would have had to take Mike Lowell with him and given up two
top prospects) because he is a Yankee-killer who will beat them every single
time he faces them.

自從紅襪得到他以後我一直聽到洋基迷說到我們應該搶他的(雖然那幾乎不可能， 必須
要一起拿 Lowell還得付出兩個有淺力的小將) 因為他是個每場都會幹掉我們的洋基殺手。


Yes, he handed the Yankees their lunch when he shut them out in Game 6 of the
2003 World Series. But as Monday night showed, he can take his lumps, too.

是的，他在03年的WS第六戰中幹掉了洋基。 但是禮拜一證明了，他也有被打爆的時候。

The Yanks hit Beckett for eight runs in 1 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of
the season. Yes, Beckett is 7-3 this year, but his ERA is a robust 5.27.

洋基在一又1/3局內就在Beckett手上得了八分， 他在本季第二短的先發 (靠還有更短喔
o_O) 。 是低， Beckett 今年目前是 7-3, 但是他的ERA也是 5.27。


That stat line sounds an awful lot like another one I heard recently: 7-4, 5.33.
A pitcher on the Yankees has that line for the season, and people want him run
out of town on the next train.

那個數據跟我最近看到的另一段數據頗為類似: 7-4, 5.33 ERA : 洋基某位投手今年
的表現也差不多是那樣..而大部分的人都想要他滾蛋。

That's right, it's Randy Johnson.

I'm not here to say that Randy is having a good year or that Beckett is having
a terrible one. All I'm saying is that neither one of them is going great and
neither one is deserving of a demotion, yet the general perception is that
Johnson is lousy and Beckett is dominating.

我不是說Randy 今年的表現很好，或是Beckett的表現很爛。我只是指出兩個仁目前都表現
不好但也沒到該滾蛋的地步。 但似乎一般的論點是Johnson爛透而Beckett很強...

It's just not so.

但事實不是如此。

As for the Yankees, that's eight wins in the last 10 games and 10 of the last
13, once again moving them into first place by a half-game. That's 6-2 in the
last eight, guaranteeing them a winning record during this
Detroit-Baltimore-Boston stretch that seemed to have all of the fans so
concerned.

對洋基來說， 過去的十場中已經贏了八場， 十三場公營了十場， 又再度回到了第一名。

過去八場中的 6-2已經保證了洋基在這段許多球迷擔心的底特律，巴爾狄摩，波士頓的系
列中已經會有是五成以上的勝率。

Tuesday's game will be interesting, as the Sox throw a rookie with one game in
the Majors against the Yankees. These are the kinds of pitchers that usually
give the Yanks trouble in the early innings, but once they get a read on the
guy, they're able to get some hacks in.

禮拜二的比賽會很有意思， 紅襪派出再大聯盟中只先發過一次的菜鳥。 這類的投手
通常一開始會給洋基麻煩， 但是過了一輪後就能夠開始發揮。

When I said the Yanks would go 2-2 in this series, I believed that Mussina
would beat Beckett, the offense would beat Pauley, Schilling would beat Wright
and Randy would lose a close one to Wakefield. One down, three to go.

我之前認為洋基在這個系列中會平分，我認為Mussina會壓過Beckett, 打線會壓過Pauley，
Schilling 會壓過Wright 而Randy 會在很接近的比賽中輸給Wakefield..一場過去。
還有三場...
