Notes: A-Rod sits out with stomach bug
Rodriguez says same ailment caused him to miss two games

BALTIMORE -- There's something about Baltimore that just doesn't agree with
Alex Rodriguez.
A-Rod was out of the lineup Saturday with a stomach bug, the same ailment
that caused him to miss two games in Baltimore in early June.

"It's the same thing that happened to me the last time we were here," said
Rodriguez, who actually played all three games during the Yankees' August
series at Camden Yards. "I must be allergic to something, the ice or the
water. I'm not sure what it is."

"It's weird," manager Joe Torre said. "I don't know if he's eating at the
same place or with the same utensils, but it hasn't worked very well."

Rodriguez said he ate at different restaurants than he did in June, trying to
"mix it up" and avoid the same problems.

「粉奇怪，」Torre說，「我不知道他是不是跑去吃了一樣的餐廳還是一樣的東西，
但就是不太對勁。」

A-Rod has started 135 of the Yankees' 140 games this season, missing two in
Seattle last month while battling the flu.

Rodriguez, who has 12 hits in his last 29 at-bats, is hitting .282 with 31
home runs and 105 RBIs this season. He is the sixth player in big-league
history to reach the 30-homer, 100-RBI plateau in at least nine consecutive
seasons.

Muscle movement: Mariano Rivera's mild muscle strain, which is located near
his right elbow, has apparently moved down toward his hand, which Torre
seemed to take as a positive.

"Mo said he felt real good today," Torre said. "It's been moving, which is
good news. It's muscular; he's just trying to get it out of there so that
when he reaches out, he feels nothing."

Rivera took Saturday off after throwing on flat ground Friday, and he planned
to repeat that exercise Sunday. Rivera is hesitant to get on a mound until
the tightness is completely gone, as he doesn't want to favor other muscles
to compensate for the injury.

"He's not going to get on the mound until he doesn't feel anything," Torre
said.

Day off: Bobby Abreu joined Rodriguez on the bench Saturday, as Torre decided
to sit his right fielder against left-hander Adam Loewen. Abreu went 0-for-4
on Friday night, with three of those at-bats coming against southpaw Erik
Bedard.

"This pitcher is similar to last night's, and it didn't look like he was
seeing the ball real well," Torre said of Abreu, who is hitless in his last
11 at-bats. "Physically, he's fine."

The Yankees were also without Jason Giambi, who was waiting to be examined by
hand specialist Dr. Melvin Rosenwasser.

Johnny Damon, who has been battling a sore lower back, started as the
Yankees' designated hitter Saturday, while Bernie Williams started in center
field and Kevin Thompson started in right field.
