A-Rod on booing: I'm used to it now

As usual, Alex Rodriguez was one of the first Yankees out of the clubhouse
after yesterday's 6-5 loss to the Oakland Athletics. On a glorious June
afternoon, the $25-million third baseman was drowned in boos at Yankee Stadium
 for the third consecutive game.

是前幾位步出球員俱樂部的 在陽光燦爛的六月午後 這位身價兩千五百萬的三壘手

"I'm used to it now," Rodriguez said near the clubhouse door, ready to bolt
after going hitless in three at-bats with a walk and throwing error. "If my
wife and my daughter don't boo me, I'm good."

 Few of the 54,570 fans at the Stadium seemed to remember that Rodriguez was
the American League's player of the month for May, reaching base safely in 25
of 28 games. He batted .330 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs.

But this is June and the Yankees have lost four straight games and Rodriguez
is 4-for-21 in the first six games of the homestand.

The booing started raining on him in the fifth inning yesterday. With Derek
Jeter at second base, Rodriguez flew out to short left off Barry Zito. In the
seventh, with Johnny Damon on base and the game tied 5-5, Rodriguez hit
another fly ball. Before the ball came down in centerfielder Mark Kotsay's
glove, the booing directed at Rodriguez was strong and loud.

A throwing error by Rodriguez helped the A's tie the game in the sixth
inning. "That play was a little tricky," he said.

After his torrid May, Rodriguez missed two games in Baltimore last week with
a stomach ailment and hasn't seemed the same.

"I feel great," he insisted yesterday. "I'm 100 percent."

Yankees manager Joe Torre said after the loss that Rodriguez was pressing,
trying to do too much at the plate. "He's struggling," Torre said. "He's
trying to do the right thing and he's having trouble doing it right now."

Said Rodriguez: "Not right now. At times, I've felt that way but I actually
feel very comfortable and confident up there."

The fans have been on Rodriguez since the final game of the Boston series last
week, when Alex Gonzalez hit what appeared to be a routine grounder that
eluded Rodriguez's glove.

"That's fine," he said yesterday of the relentless booing. "I don't have any
complaints. All I can do is take my approach ... my work ethic and come out
and play hard every day."

雖然有時候會抱怨 某些關鍵時刻A-Rod沒有關鍵打擊 某些時刻A-Rod失誤
也會嘲笑他是壘上無人安打王(這不全然為真)
但看到A-Rod的Home Run  敏捷的撲球 漂亮的傳球動作
還是會讚嘆他真的是天生好手
加油!!!A-Rod!!!  別想太多了~~~
