    Can it be true? Carl Pavano is about to take----be still my beating
heart----a rehab start?!?

    The Yankees are saying that this is going to be a version of spring
training for Pavano; so when are they planning for him to be back? November?
And does anyone truly believe that if the Yankees are in any kind of a race
for a playoff spot in September that Joe Torre is going to trust Pavano in
any role other than that of a mop up man?

NYY 在流傳著：Pavano 式的的春訓要展開了！NYY 到底計劃著他何時回來呢？11 月？
而且有誰真的相信，NYY 隊在 9 月的季後賽競爭中，Joe Torre 會信任 Pavano 放在
任何位置即使是個拖把人？(最後一句不會翻就亂翻一通)

    And I hate to quibble with the the statements of a manager heading to the
Hall of Fame when he retires, but Torre was quoted as saying, "We're dealing
with someone who hasn't been competitive in a year..."

而且，我討厭這位在退休後會進入名人堂的總教頭一語雙關地談到：我們正在處理一位
一年都沒有比賽的人。(competitive in a year 作何解釋啊？)

     Competitive in a year? That would imply that he was competitive while
with the Yankees. I certainly didn't see someone who was "competitive" while
wearing a Yankee uniform when watching Carl Pavano. I hate to keep harping on
this, but the last time Pavano appeared "competitive" was when he was with
the Marlins and pitching for his big free agent contract.

一年沒比賽？這暗示他曾在 NYY 比賽嗎？我十分肯定沒看過誰穿著 NYY 條紋裝在比賽的

    I must again and again reiterate that this is no personal vendetta, but
is anyone associated with the Yankees from the front office; to the manager;
and especially to the players; going to expect anything of substance from
Pavano at this point? He has shown no desire, no willingness, no
determination to return.
