[新聞] Giambi suffers bruised elbow in Chicago

CHICAGO -- Jason Giambi is questionable for Wednesday's game against the White
Sox, as the slugger left Tuesday night's game early after being plunked by a
pitch on his right elbow.

Giambi was hit by a Neal Cotts pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth inning,
forcing home the go-ahead run. The White Sox battled back to win the game, 6-5,
in 11 innings, but Giambi was not able to hit in his spot in the 10th inning
because of swelling in the bruised elbow.

"It's pretty big as far as the swelling," Giambi said. "We tried to ice it down,
tried to take some cuts, but I couldn't."

"He's pretty sore," manager Joe Torre said. "He was going to have trouble
swinging the bat. Hopefully he'll be all right tomorrow."

Bernie Williams pinch-hit for Giambi with two outs and the go-ahead run at
second base, but Bobby Jenks struck him out.

"I'd have loved to be up in that situation," Giambi said. "But if I can't swing,
I can't help the team."

Giambi left U.S. Cellular Field with a compression wrap on his arm, and he was
unsure what his status would be for Wednesday's game.

"We'll see how I wake up, try to move it and get it ready for tomorrow," Giambi
said. "I'm not going to jeopardize the team if I can't help."
