※ 引述《Andre (The Tornado)》之銘言: : ※ 引述《IronChef (Schadenfreude)》之銘言: : : Everytime somebody says a player is clutch, baby Jesus cries. : I agree with you except for this one. : When it comes to MVP, clutch performance should be considered. : After all, what counts in MVP is how well one had done but how well : he should've done or how good he is. My take on the "clutchness" is: 1. It might not be an ability, at least we don't have enough evidence to prove that. A player who's clutch this year is not destined to be clutch next year. Derek Jeter has his reputation as a clutch player since his rookie season, yet he's not clutch at all last year. 2. To hand out an MVP award, we care about the real performance of a player, not his ability. If such a player has a fluky season, so be it. In a season, clutchness does exist and should be a plus. However, it is usually overvalued by the majority of fans. A three-run walk-off homerun is fascinating, but it is not worth much more than a three-run homer hit a few innings earlier in the same game. Yes, it's worth more, but not as much as people would give credit for. -- ============================== My Yankees blog: The Pinstriped Morningside Heights http://cclu.blogspot.com 這是一個主要由中文寫作,但是引用英文網路文章的blog。內容包括: Yankees、Baseball Business以及Sabermetrics。 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.160.176.65
