### GAME 1 ###

Cory Lidle, RHP (11-9, 4.46)  @  Erik Bedard, LHP (12-9, 3.94) 

Lidle makes his seventh start for the Yankees, looking for his fourth
 victory. Lidle lost his only start against the Orioles this season,
 allowing three runs over 6 1/3 innings on Aug. 16. In 15 career games
 (11 starts) against Baltimore, Lidle is 4-7 with one save and a 4.73 ERA.

Bedard has pitched well in recent weeks, but he's gone seven starts without
 a win, a streak immediately on the heels of a seven-start winning streak.
 Still, the southpaw has pitched into the sixth inning in six of his last
 seven starts. Bedard is 7-3 with a 3.12 ERA at home and 7-5 with a 4.49
 mark in night games

### GAME 2 ###

Chien-Ming Wang, RHP (16-5, 3.69)  @  Adam Loewen, LHP (5-4, 5.55)

Wang makes his second attempt for his 17th win of the season, looking
 to bounce back from a 5 2/3-inning, three-run outing against the Royals
 on Monday. Wang was rocked by the O's in his only start against them
 this season, giving up six runs in 5 1/3 innings on April 21. The
 right-hander also converted his first career save against Baltimore on
 June 3.

Loewen has been excellent since the All-Star break, notching a 5-2
 record with a 4.64 ERA. He's thrown 100 pitches four times in his past
 six starts, working deeper into the game. The rookie has been much
 better at home, with a 3.94 ERA at Camden Yards and a 7.54 mark elsewhere.
 Loewen is 2-1 with a 4.35 ERA in day games.

### GAME 3 ###

Jaret Wright, RHP (9-7, 4.62)  @  Hayden Penn, RHP (0-1, 108.00)

Penn recorded just two outs in his big-league season debut and was charged
 with eight earned runs. The right-hander had gone eight days in-between
 starts and will be pitching on extended rest yet again. Penn was
 outstanding in the Minor Leagues this season, notching a 7-4 record
 and a 2.26 ERA for Triple-A Ottawa.

### GAME 4 ###

Randy Johnson, LHP (16-10, 4.76)  @  Kris Benson, RHP (10-10, 4.66)

The Big Unit makes his fourth start of the season against Baltimore,
 looking for his second victory. In the first three meetings, Johnson
 is 1-0 with a 3.80 ERA, making him 9-7 with a 3.98 ERA in 29 career
 games against the Orioles. Johnson had a no-decision in his last start
 against the O's, allowing four runs over six innings in the Yankees'
 5-4 win on Aug. 4 at Camden Yards.

Benson has only one win over his last 10 starts, but has given up two
 runs in three of his last four outings. In two starts against the
 Yankees this season, Benson is 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA. He will be pitching
 with an extra day of rest, and yielded two runs in eight innings during
 his last start, against the Angels.
