Farnsworth: The hard-throwing reliever takes over for Tom Gordon as the
       primary setup man for Mariano Rivera after signing a three-year, $18

Myers: Like Damon, Myers jumps from Boston to the Bronx. He fills the much-
       needed role of left-handed specialist after signing a two-year deal as

Ron Villone, LHP: The New York native returns home after the Yankees acquired

       missed the entire second half with rotator cuff tendinitis. Pavano is

       his belt in the Bronx should help.

Mussina: For the second year in a row, Mussina was sidelined for a few weeks
       by an arm injury, something the usually sturdy right-hander is not

1. Who will win the final spots in the rotation?

The Yankees enter the spring with seven starting pitchers vying for five
spots, though Johnson and Mussina will not have to fight for their jobs. That
leaves Wang, Chacon, Pavano, Wright and Small battling for the final three
spots, with the favorites being Wang, Chacon and Pavano.

Without having to play the field, Williams could be a productive designated
hitter for the Yankees, though he won't see all of the time in that slot.
Giambi will surely see some at-bats as the DH, giving Andy Phillips some
playing time at first base. Williams could DH about 100 games, assuming he
has some pop left in his bat.

allows his postseason troubles from last October to weigh on his mind, he and
his new team could be in for a rocky year.
