Yankees center fielder out after experiencing pain in both legs

NEW YORK -- Yankees outfielder Johnny Damon left the club's Opening Day game
on Monday after five innings with cramps in both calves, the team announced.

Damon, 33, was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk in three plate
appearances against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, beginning his second season
with the Yankees.

He was replaced in center field by Melky Cabrera for the beginning of the
sixth inning. Damon batted .285 with 24 home runs and 80 RBIs in 149 games
for New York in 2006.
