  The New York Yankees are swimming against the current baseball tide, which
means that they are taking strokes in the right direction.
  紐約洋基正在試著對抗整個棒球界的趨勢(這句不太會翻..),表示他們需要在這個時候做
出對的決策.

  The Yankees, baseball's biggest spenders by total salary, have generally been
 notable by their absence in this winter's spending spree. Instead, they appear
to be stockpiling young pitchers.
  洋基隊.這個薪資總額最高的球隊,通常被認為是在球季後最無止盡花錢的代表.但現在相
反的是,他們開始替球隊累積一些年輕的選手.

  Their emphasis on signing big-name, bigger-dollar players has given the
Yankees enough talent to win the American League East, season after season.
But since 2000, it has not provided them with enough pitching to win everything
, or sometimes, anything in the postseason.

  They appear to be changing direction. And the new direction is actually the
old direction, in baseball terms: stocking an organization with as much
pitching talent as possible.

  There was evidence of this in their trade of Gary Sheffield to Detroit for

of Bobby Abreu, but it had typically been the Yankees trading the prospects for
 the established name.

  Now the Yankees appear to be on the verge of reinforcing this approach, with
 the trading of Randy Johnson to Arizona, again for pitching prospects. Like
Detroit, the Arizona organization is well-stocked with genuine pitching
prospects.
  現在洋基正延續這個趨勢,他們交易Randy Johnson去亞利桑那,也一樣從響尾蛇那邊得到

  For the long term, this would be a sound move for the Yankees. This might
even be a sound move for the Yankees in the near term.

  Johnson will enter the Hall of Fame at some point, but the obvious greatness
 of his career is not the point at this moment. His 5.00 earned run average in
 2006 was the worst of his career. His 17 victories owed much to the impressive
 run production of the New York lineup. When the Yankees needed him most, in
the Division Series against Detroit, he gave up five runs in 5 2/3 innings.

  And he is 43 years old, coming off back surgery. Johnson has been a huge
talent and a remarkable competitor, but his days as the dominant Big Unit are,
 if not over, certainly going to occur with less frequency.

 say with assurance that he is going to be the difference between the Yankees
winning something and the Yankees winning everything. He is at a point in his
career at which his name is bigger than his performance. And so is his salary.

  This potential sticking point appears to have been resolved, as the Yankees
reportedly will pay a portion of Johnson's $16 million salary for 2007. Johnson
 is still on Arizona's books for a reported $40 million in deferred payments
from his former contracts with the Diamondbacks.

  In general, the more the Yankees pay of Johnson's salary, the more pitching
prospects they receive. However the numbers shake out, the very fact that the
Yankees have agreed to make this trade illustrates the point that they are
moving in the direction of amassing both quantity and quality in young pitching.
  一般認為,洋基如果出越多強森在2007的年的薪水,他們會得到更好的投手新秀.但是具體
的數字展開後,事實上洋基同意這個交易的原因還是因為他們希望同時得到有能力和一定數

  There has been speculation that the Yankees are interested in clearing
Johnson's salary in part so that they could be in a better position to pay
for the glorious return of Roger Clemens. The Yankees dream of this glorious
return. But so do the Red Sox.
  而一般推測洋基致力清出Johnson的薪資空間一部分原因是讓他們有更多的能力去付給
即將回歸的榮耀"Roger Clemens",洋基希望這個榮耀能夠回來,但是紅襪也一樣這樣希望.

  Clemens, of course, is in his annual semi-retirement. He gave the Houston
Astros 19 starts and a 2.30 ERA during that work in 2006, so, although he is
one year older than Johnson, there is evidence that he can still perform at a
very high level, at least for a portion of the season.
  當然Clemens一直以還都是在持續他將要退休的想法中.他在2006年替休士頓太空人隊出

  It is in Clemens' best interests to keep the Yankees, Red Sox and Astros
both guessing and interested. This is a recurring offseason procedure that by
now produces elements of both drama and tedium.
  這是Clemens讓洋基,紅襪,太空人都認為持續對他感到興趣的原因. 而這個原因也是
一直讓我們在這個球季一直看的無聊且一直重複的單調劇本.

  But here's the thing: The acquisition of the Rocket would be a bonus for the
 Yankees, but it probably shouldn't be considered part of the basic game plan.
 The young pitchers should be part of the basic game plan.
 但是事實上是:這個關於能獲得老火箭是洋基額外的獲利,而且應該不是被正式考慮的球隊
基礎計畫.年輕的投手才應該是洋基的基礎球隊計畫.

  And it appears that they are, which is good for the Yankees. This winter,
several other teams have spent as though they were the Yankees, while the
Yankees seem to be moving toward a more traditional form of long-term franchise
 improvement. The opposition ought to be a lot more worried about this than
they were about the Yankees spending big money.
 而這似乎是他們現在所做的事情,這對洋基來講是好的.在這個冬天,很多其他的球隊以為

翻的很爛....請多包含...

老火箭回不回來..我個人認為其實來挺重要的..
因為MR.痛能不能投球畢竟是個問號..就算是只要他當5號
而且如果讓襪子簽下他反而是更嚴重的事情..
不過理論上而言啦...襪子應該是沒那個錢在簽老火箭了..
除非他們把芬威球場的外野位子賣跟洋基內野一樣的價錢..
不過現在我們農場應該真的挺屌的...但是響尾蛇來的那幾位.
應該還是排不上我們的前10名..
國外就有人在問..為啥不花個600萬去換更好的新秀
甚至問為啥不跟教士交易..人家都擺明要給你TOP的新秀了..
我想應該還是巨怪的原因吧..雖然他說要再離家近一點的地方打球..
不過他離家近一點的地方..應該是他只願意在"亞利桑那"打球吧..
其他問題..我們這群渺小的球迷也不太可能知道..
不過讓我們期待接下來的發展吧...
