New York Post BERNIE MAY TAKE YANKEES' INVITATION By MICHAEL MORRISSEY February 2, 2007 -- Bernie Williams might yet be back in pinstripes. According to a published report, Williams is leaning toward accepting the minor-league, non-roster spring training invitation the Yankees have extended to him. Although there isn't much room on the roster, Williams will be given a puncher's chance to earn his keep in 2007. Currently, the Yankees have four outfielders under contract, and the development of youngster Melky Cabrera hinges on him getting semi-regular time in between Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon and Bobby Abreu. The report stated that the 38-year-old outfielder would prefer not to play elsewhere and is comfortable retiring if he can't make the team. Righty Matt DeSalvo, who was optioned to Triple-A Scranton after he cleared waivers, has been invited to major-league camp. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.104.225.214
