Derek Jeter星期二表示他和Alex Rodriguez冷卻的關係不是什麼重要的議題
他說"我不訝異 也不覺得有什麼影響 我們在球場上依然彼此支持
每個人都自己想像我們相處的畫面 但沒人真正知道"
例如說去年八月 在對金鶯隊時 有個內野高飛球 兩個人都喊著要接 但都沒有接到
然後Jeter冷冷地看了A-Rod一眼
Jeter說"在球員休息俱樂部裡我們對這感到好笑
你們沒看到 但我們笑了 人們自己編故事
如果看到我們坐在板凳的兩邊就說 他們不合"
至於A-Rod去年低潮被球迷噓
Jeter說" 關起門來私底下 我是支持他的
唯一沒做的就是告訴球迷該怎麼做 球迷有自由做他們想做的
我不認為 告訴球迷要噓或不要噓是我的工作"
Jeter表示 A-Rod星期一跟他說從不覺得缺乏Jeter的支持
還說 "我們以前多常擁抱 現在多常擁抱 有什麼關係
重要的是 我們在同一個球場上"

“How would I characterize (the relationship)? I would characterize it
as it doesn’t make a difference. I have a lot of relationships that have
changed over 10 years. What we do away from the field, how much time we spend
together, it makes no difference.”
“I don’t have a rift with Alex. Let’s get that straight.”
“It’s annoying to hear about it all the time; everyone assumes they know
what our relationship is. They see us on the field, and if one person gives
the other a look, it’s a story. If we’re on opposite ends of the bench,
it’s a story. Like Alex said yesterday, we’re on the same page when we’re
playing. That’s the only thing that matters.”
“We support each other. Being the captain of this team is a role that means
a lot to me. I support every one of my teammates. I’ve said it time and time
again, from day one with Alex when he was struggling; I support Alex, I’m
pulling for Alex and we’re trying to win. If we’re going to win, Alex needs
to play well, because he’s a big part of this team. I’ve said that from day
one, but I always hear that I don’t support him, so that’s kind of
mind-boggling.”
“From day one, I’ve said I support Alex. I said, ‘Alex is going through a
slump that every player goes through.’ I said, ‘The Yankee fans, they
don’t want to boo, they want to cheer. They want us to win.’ The only thing
I’m not going to do is tell the fans what to do. Fans can feel free to do
whatever they want to do; I don’t think it’s my job to tell fans to boo or
not to boo.”
“Me and Alex have talked about that; Alex never sensed a lack of support
from me. Just because you guys don’t know about it doesn’t mean we haven’t
spoken. Alex has not sensed a lack of support. We’ve talked about that from
day one.”
“Off the field has nothing to do with what we’re trying to do here. I
understand my job is public, but my personal life is my personal life. Once
you open that door, it doesn’t stop. I don’t feel it necessary to talk
about things that have nothing to do with baseball.”
