Question #1: You grew up a Red Sox fan. Do you still ever find yourself rooting
for them. Also, is it odd being a Yankee now after growing up a Boston fan?
Phil Hughes: I don't root for the Sox anymore at all. It was kind of crazy
being drafted by the team i was taught to hate, but i couldn't be happier.
Question #2: Do you see yourself pitching with the Yankee's by midseason next
year?
Phil Hughes: That's a tough call, I hope so, but those decisions aren't up to
me. I'm just going to pitch to the best of my abilities and hope for the best.
Question #3: Is last years pitch count limit and inning limit (although you did
reach your career high in innings) going to affect you? How are you preparing
yourself for the 2007 Season, in which your likely to start at Scranton Wilke
/Barre Red Barrons?
Phil Hughes: It's not going to effect me at all. I know my body can take the
stress of pitching a full game. I'm going into this year in even better shape
ready for a full season.
Question #4: Hey Hughes, the future Yankee ace! Playing in New York comes
with a lot of media coverage and a lot of pressure. Yankee fans know your
name and they'll expect a lot from you. Even though you haven't even thrown a
pitch in the Major Leagues yet, do you even bother reading newspapers about
what people say about you or do you just stick to playing Baseball?
Phil Hughes: I try not to read into papers too much. I usually get all my
news from family and friends anyway's. Baseball is a hard enough game to play
as it is. I think letting off field stuff bother you just makes it harder and
I try not to do that.
Question #5: Besides having a plus fastball, good changeup and curveball?
what kind of pitch would you like to improve in your arsenal? How do you keep
your body in shape? Do you workout in offseason to gain more endurance?
Phil Hughes: My focus this last season was improving my changeup. I think if
I can really master that pitch it will help me out a lot this year. I do a
lot of lifting and running in the offseason to get prepared for the next year.
Question #6: Have you ever hit triple digits on the radar gun? If not, what
is the fastest speed you have ever been clocked at?
Phil Hughes: Never hit 100, i think the hardest was 97.
Question #7: What's it like being compared to Roger Clemens?
Phil Hughes: It's an honor. It's hard to take those kind of compliments
though when I haven't done anything at the big league level to deserve that
kind of praise.
Question #8: What's your take on the Yankees off-season thus far? Also, How
do you feel that AAA will have new faces ( mainly pitchers ) that you will
play with and compete with to reach the Major Leagues?
Phil Hughes: I think we've made some good moves this offseason. It never
hurts to have good young players in the system. That being said I think it
holds true to the AAA pitchers this year. Having that kind of depth can only
be beneficial.
Question #9: Besides being a number one prospect, how does it feel to get
drafted out of High School with such high regards?
Phil Hughes: It's a great feeling. Being a 1st round pick also comes with a
lot of expectations and that can also be somewhat stressful.
Question #10: Hey Phil, What will you say when you win game seven of the
World Series for the Yankees in 2007?
Phil Hughes: Haha I'm not sure, I hear Disney pays guys a lot of money to say
"I'm going to disneyworld!" so I'll go with that.

問題6..我的球速沒100M那麼快啦..最多只有97.XD.(不是吧.兄弟.97M還不快啊..)
不過 問題1就讓人毛毛的..你從小就是個紅襪迷.恩..(屠殺自己支持的球隊比較開心嗎??)
